The Brits didn’t leave until 1997 n not by choice. They would have squatted on HK in perpetuity if they could.
It is the same concept as the Americans bombing talent to its shores. The Vile 🇬🇧🇺🇸Empire’s global embargo on China caused a lot of hardship. No different than the hardship the U.S. caused the Yemeni people to endure with the Empire’s sanctions for over a decade.
