Roscoe Mitchell

Vision Festival 20 | Roscoe Mitchell: Two Trios & Combined Quintet Pt I from artsforart on Vimeo.

VISION 20: These trios give me a very large sound palette. I can combine these trios in different configurations. I am interested in having people function as individuals inside of the improvisation so that counterpoint is maintained, a very important element in music. I also address the issue of space or rest, because one doesn’t compose a piece that is a run-on sentence. - Roscoe Mitchell
