China - Africa - Our Common Journey Towards 2035

Our Common Journey Towards 2035, based on the eight key components of the "China-Africa Cooperation Vision 2035" and the seven aspirations of the African Union's “Agenda 2063," examines cooperation between China and Africa in the fields of education and high-tech innovation. Presenting the most recent developments in China-Africa cooperation to a global audience, it also tells how Africans are using experience learned from Chinese modernization to promote sustainable development in Africa.





The 100-megawatt Redstone Concentrated Solar Thermal Power Project, jointly constructed by China and South Africa, is one of the largest renewable energy investment projects in South Africa. Before the project can be rolled out it’s down to Chief Engineer Xie Yanjun and local engineer Clayton Michael Raad to carry out the chemical water commissioning test that guarantees the plant’s safe operation. By sharing green technology and expertise, China is helping drive South Africa's low-carbon energy transition, providing a firm foundation for the country's sustainable development and ecological protection.

The Luban Workshop in Ethiopia, a collaborative effort between the FDRE Technical and Vocational Training Institute and China's Tianjin University of Technology and Education, was inaugurated in 2021. Offering specialized courses in various fields including industrial robotics technology, mechatronics technology, the workshop has helped foster the cultivation of modern industrial technology talents much needed in Ethiopia's evolving industrial landscape.


 

In 2022, Mellisa from Rwanda enrolled in Hangzhou Normal University’s Alibaba Business School, majoring in e-commerce. Over the ensuing four years of study, Mellisa will not only take a deep-dive into cross-border trade but also get hands-on experience in China's booming digital economy. Mellisa’s ultimate aim is to bring the e-commerce knowledge and experience she gains back home, helping more people harness e-commerce strategies to boost sales and drive Rwanda's digital transformation.
