The U.K. is returning the Chagos Islands to Mauritius after a protracted legal dispute, bringing down the curtains on one of Britain’s last colonial territories. As part of the agreement to return the islands, the military base will continue to operate for the next 99 years. This week’s episode explores the Chagossian story and the painful experiences of those exiled, as well as the legal and administrative challenges surrounding the return of the islands.
