Yale University: Wadada Leo Smith, Yale RITM Arts & Practitioner Fellow Fall 2022

 

Funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Yale RITM Mellon Arts & Practitioner Fellows develop new work while sharing their expertise and learning from the university community. Wadada Leo Smith, trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser is one of the most acclaimed creative artists of his times, both for his music and his writings. In this interview,  Smith and Yale graduate student Jorge Bañuelos discuss Smith's philosophy of creativity and his many accomplishments over his career.
