Ai Weiwei on Beijing || The Artist and Their City

The Artist and Their City: Ai Weiwei on Beijing - a Tate/Guardian Cities Film from Max Duncan on Vimeo.

Chinese artist Ai Weiwei explores his complex relationship with Beijing - “a city that doesn’t belong to its residents” - and takes us through his neighbourhood Caochangdi, a migrant and artists village on the urban fringe where he has tried to create a space for freedom of expression. The short first film is the first in a Guardian Cities / Tate special series 'The Artist and Their City'
