O Racismo É O Resultado De Narrativas Muito Bem Orquestradas!!!

MEET THE TEAM BEHIND CNN BRASIL: A BUSINESSMAN ACCUSED OF EXPLOITING SLAVE LABOR AND AN EXECUTIVE FROM A FOX NEWS-STYLE OUTLET || The Intercept

By  for the The Intercept

LEIA EM PORTUGUÊS

LAST MONDAY, CNN announced that it will launch a Portuguese-language channel in Brazil. The U.S.-based cable news channel will roll out the latest foreign operation to bear the CNN brand through a license. However, the scandal-prone records of the two Brazilian partners behind the venture are already raising questions over the forthcoming channel’s credibility.
Principal funding for the venture will come from the new channel’s chair of the board, Rubens Menin, a construction magnate who is a vocal cheerleader for far-right Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and whose company has been caught multiple times using modern slave labor. CNN Brasil also announced that it will bring on Douglas Tavolaro as its CEO. Tavolaro previously served as vice president for news of Rede Record, a channel that in 2018 earned the nickname “Fox News Brasil” for its fawning coverage of Bolsonaro’s presidential campaign and the preferential access it secured as a result. When orders from on high at Record demanded that journalists cease criticism of Bolsonaro and increase negative coverage of his competitor, a minor staff revolt ensued and multiple journalists resigned in protest.
On Friday, the two figures behind CNN Brasil — Menin and Tavolaro — met with Bolsonaro and his son Eduardo at the presidential palace. Earlier this week, Eduardo tweeted his skepticism of the new outlet.
CNN Brasil said it plans to hire 400 journalists and begin operations during the second half of 2019. A press release noted that the 24-hour news channel will have total editorial independence, as well as the rights to rebroadcast CNN’s non-Portuguese language content. CNN Brasil appears to be swimming against the tide in an industry in which wave after wave of layoffs in major TV and print news organizations have thinned out Brazil’s newsrooms in recent years.

GEORGE H.W. BUSH: THE INCONVENIENT TRUTH || The Intercept

Deconstructed with Mehdi Hasanlisten HERE
IN HIS DEATH, liberal media painted a very rosy image of former President George H.W. Bush, with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer saying that “George H.W. Bush is being remembered as a family man, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.” As president, George H.W. Bush stood up to the gun lobby, brought in the Americans with Disabilities Act, and ended the Cold War without firing a shot. However, he had also ordered the Desert Storm operation in which 88,000 tons of U.S. bombs were dropped on Iraq, killing tens of thousands of Iraqis and completely destroying civilian infrastructure. None of these Iraqi deaths were featured in the obituaries of U.S. liberal media. He also sold the first Gulf War “on a mountain of war propaganda,” as an investigation by journalist Joshua Holland concluded. George H.W. Bush also refused to speak with the special counsel during the Iran-Contra affair, declined to hand over his diary, and pardoned Ronald Reagan’s Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger on the eve of his trial, so that he — Bush — wouldn’t have to testify. The Intercept’s co-founder Glenn Greenwald joins Mehdi Hasan to discuss the difference between hagiography and journalism — and to produce a more accurate and fair obituary of the late former-president George H.W. Bush.

Michel Temer Says Rousseff Was Impeached For Refusing His Economic Agenda || The Intercept

The Intercept:

Temer’s comments are yet more confirmation that Rousseff’s impeachment did not occur due to alleged budget tricks, as the Brazilian media and the country’s now-ruling faction regularly claims. Nor was it for the traditional Brazilian family, nor for God, or against corruption, as congresspeople claimed during their “yes” votes. It was conducted on behalf of the interests of business owners and to the detriment of workers. It was for an agenda of impunity, profit, and power that would never be ratified democratically by the Brazilian voting population at the ballot box, and was thus imposed on them under the guise of upholding the law. Anyone still doubting that should simply listen to what the prime beneficiary of impeachment, Michel Temer, just said to his most important constituency.

Brazil Is Engulfed by Ruling Class Corruption — and a Dangerous Subversion of Democracy || Gleen Greenwald

The Intercept:

THE MULTIPLE, REMARKABLE crises subsuming Brazil are now garnering substantial Western media attention. That’s understandable given that Brazil is the world’s fifth most populous country and eighth-largest economy; its second-largest city, Rio de Janeiro, is the host of this year’s Summer Olympics. But much of this Western media coverage mimics the propaganda coming from Brazil’s homogenized, oligarch-owned, anti-democracy media outlets and, as such, is misleading, inaccurate, and incomplete, particularly when coming from those with little familiarity with the country (there are numerous Brazil-based Western reporters doing outstanding work).
