The absolute best phone: Apple iPhone X || The Verge

The Verge

Buying a phone can be a chore, but we’ve done the work for you

...

Apple’s latest iPhone isn’t just the most interesting iPhone in years, but it’s easily the best smartphone ever made. The iPhone X has almost everything you could think to ask for in a smartphone: blazing-fast performance, a gorgeous display, top-of-the-class cameras, loud, clear speakers, reliable battery life, and a head-turning design. In addition, the X is water resistant and can be recharged with a wireless pad. The main thing that most people will miss is a standard headphone jack.

Apple’s extensive support system, through both its own and carrier stores, is another incredibly important point in the iPhone’s favor. There’s simply no other company that provides as much support for a smartphone after you purchase it. On top of that, since it’s an iPhone, the iPhone X enjoys the broadest support of accessories and cases.

iMac With Retina 5K Display Review || The Verge

David Pierce:

…

Most people I know who buy iMacs tend to keep them for longer than your average computer. Given that, if you’re in the market for a new iMac today and you can afford this one, you should absolutely buy the iMac with Retina display. There’s no question whatsoever that Retina is the future of the iMac, that developers will continue to up-res and support these gorgeous new displays. The iMac with Retina display is the rare gadget that will actually get better over time, as there are more things to do more beautifully.

For virtually every purpose, this machine is excellent: it’s powerful and attractive and well-suited to almost any task. Most importantly, it’s a genuine pleasure to use. The screen is so big, so deep, so vivid, that I find myself eschewing phone or tablet more than ever in favor of sitting down in front of this remarkable 27-inch display.

Samsung copying Apple again? … Shocking!?

Dan Seifert, The Verge: Samsung takes a page from Apple's Passbook with new Wallet app:

The company showed off a few features of the new app during its developer keynote, and it’s quite clear that Samsung took its design inspiration for Wallet from Apple’s Passbook (even down to the icon that Samsung used).
