Zhongwei is a prefecture-level city of Ningxia, People's Republic of China. Zhongwei is located on the northern banks of the Yellow River and bordered directly by the Tengger Desert in the north.The city has been battling desertification since the 1950s. Using straw checkerboard patterns the advance of sand dunes is stopped. Zhongwei's main attraction is Gao Miao, a temple that has hosted Confucian, Buddhist, and Taoist ceremonies. A drum tower is located in the city center.

As of 2014, Qingdao had a population of 9,046,200 with an urban population of 6,188,100. Lying across the Shandong Peninsula and looking out to the Yellow Sea, it borders the prefecture-level cities of Yantai to the northeast, Weifang to the west and Rizhao to the southwest.

Qingdao is a major seaport and naval base, as well as a commercial and financial centre. It is home to electronics multinationals such as Haier and Hisense. The world's longest sea bridge,[citation needed] the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge, links the main urban area of Qingdao with Huangdao district, straddling the Jiaozhou Bay sea areas. Its historic, German-style architecture and Tsingtao Brewery, the second largest brewery in China are legacies of the German occupation (1898-1914).
