Between The Scenes | The Daily Show || Trevor Responds to Criticism from the French Ambassador

via The Daily Show with Trevor Noah Published on Jul 18, 2018
Trevor responds to a letter from French ambassador Gérard Araud criticizing him for congratulating Africa on France’s World Cup victory.

African(s) may refer to:
  • Anything from or pertaining to the continent of Africa:
    • People who are native to Africa, descendants of natives of Africa, or individuals who trace their ancestry to indigenous inhabitants of Africa

To be French all you need is French nationality, to be an African all you need is African ancestry.

To be honest, most Africans I know prefer to be called a nigger (Preto), I live in Lisbon, they almost despise being called African, but refer to their or their parents country of birth. The funny thing is, the European racists/ignorants do not call them Africans either, but nigger (Preto). There was even this university professor (I do not remember his name) who wrote that an ''African'' born in Europe is not an African at all, but a nigger (Preto). He did not call them Europeans, tho.
You see - Africa is a place, nigger (Preto) is a political construct, one to denigrate.
Yes, I get it, people have a right to call themselves WHAT they want.

Boots Riley || Sorry to Bother You

Act It Out: Interview with Boots Riley of ‘Sorry to Bother You’ by Cynthia Fuchs

Boots Riley

As I'm focusing on rebellion, I've got all these people who you don't usually see, working for change. Historically you see, since the ‘60s, what we see as movements for social change are really based around spectacle, around making a statement.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
“Sorry to Bother You” writer-director Boots Riley talks about how his satirical film tackles racism, economic equality and the “mythical white voice.”
