This is how I make Injera. Make sure all of the water that goes into this is warm- not too hot not too cold. this process of fermentation takes 5 days in total but nutritiously filling!
I make a Berbere spiced lentil curry to go along with this- the recipe is in the description! Enjoy.

Addis Ababa

Africa Architecture Awards

CITYSKIM - A visual fly through the surface of a city with some key facts that frame the city's current status and it's projected growth.

In the panel discussion held at the Ethiopian Association of Ethiopian Architects 18th Convention in Addis Ababa titled the 'Architects Role in Society' Amanuel Teshome challenged his peers "What would fellow architects who arrived in our city think of the architecture we are designing as they drove through our city?" The CITYSKIM of Addis Ababa gives you that view along with some key facts about the city, it's current growth rate and it's projected growth rate.

The rapid development of African cities and the design response to increased urbanisation is an opportunity for architectural professionals in Africa to make their mark on the future. We will be adding further CITYSKIMS of African cities on our site to visualize the impact of this crossroads of growth, development funding and architectural design.

People of Fallashmura || Lior Sperandeo

People of Fallashmura from Lior Sperandeo on Vimeo.

In 1950 Israel created the "Law of Return" Which gives all Jews and spouses of Jews the right to immigrate and settle in Israel. 66 years later there is one group of Jews in Ethiopia (around 5000 families) who are waiting desperately to immigrate to Israel.
Falash-Mura is the name given to the last Jews in Ethiopia and It means: "landless, wanderers, refugees".

It was very ironic to film this piece while the preparations for Passover took place, a time where Jews all over the world celebrates the Exodus and freedom from slavery,
While this community is still dreaming to cross their Red sea on their way to the promise land.
I Believe that soon they won't be called Fallashmura anymore because they do have a Land, the Jewish Land.

Crumbs || Miguel Llansó

Synopsis
“Decades after the apocalypse and after extraterrestrial life had been discovered, the few inhabitants left in a hostile earth have struggled to survive by squatting and rummaging to make ends meet. For many years an alien spaceship has hovered in the skies, undisturbed and dormant, slowly rusting away. Tired of picking up the crumbs of gone-by civilizations, Gagano dreams his life away when not living in a state of perpetual fear. When the spaceship in the sky begins to turn on after a series of freak incidents in the bowling alley that Gagano and Selam call home, our miniature sized hero will be forced to embark on a surreal epic journey that will lead him through the post apocalyptic Ethiopian landscape. As he confronts himself, his fears, as well as witches, Santa Claus and second generation Nazis he will find himself only to discover that the memories that brought him on his journey and that he always thought he had were not really as he had been recalling them.”
